today the last house between my house and forest lake got demolitioned, and i’m sorry for the loss of the owners as usual. but damn i am so glad to not see that house from my bedroom window. here’s a refresher of what it has looked like for the last 11 months:
just a few days ago, volunteers on alternative spring break were cleaning this lot. this morning, at 7:03 AM, the trackhoe showed up. i waved to these guys from my back porch while still in my boxers. good morning!
but it was going to rain all day, which it did, so i thought they would just drop off the trackhoe and call it a day. not so.
i heard it was gone in the afternoon, but didn’t see with my own eyes until i got home from work. yep. it’s gone. i have a nice view of the lake now.
so i decided to walk across the dam to see what has changed down that way this week. a neighbor’s azaleas look pretty nice with some raindrops and a tornado tree.
oh, right! the lake is still mostly drained, even after the big rain today! i took some photos of that, too. the lake is being drained so the engineers can see what needs to be done specifically to clean this mess up.
some debris is big:
some debris is medium:
and some debris is small.
they were going to try to get the lake cleaned by the anniversary, april 27, but…doesn’t look like that’s gonna happen. maybe june.
